Murugan Idli Shop, Kaveripakkam

A quick weekend trip to Bangalore and we decided to have breakfast at Murugan Idli Shop on the Chennai-Bangalore Highway, before Vellore.  I’m not a big fan of MIK, but in the middle of nowhere, it did seem inviting! Neat restrooms, nice clean place overall!

Being a Saturday morning, it was quite crowded and it did take a while to serve the ordered dishes! That’s when I was impressed with their strategy 😀 A lady was going around with dhonnais (cups) of chakkarapongal asking if we would like one 🙂 Why kill time when you can actually eat something 😉 Next came a guy with a tray full of hot hot Onion Oothappams (the onions were shallots, chinna/sambhar vengaayam) and again, a lot of them opted to eat that, than just wait for their orders. It was a kinda win-win for both 🙂
I had Ghee Masala Dosa, friend had Podi Idly and both of us had one Onion Oothappam and Chakkarapongal each. Decided to have coffee from their counter on the road. It was good too. No complaints with the food. Bill was about 400+ I think, my friend paid it!
A known devil was certainly better than an unknown angel in this case! Still I wouldn’t visit their outlet in T-Nagar. 🙂
