Chennai Restaurant Reviews

Crimson Chakra, Adayar

I’ve been here a few times with friends, family and have always gone back satisfied. There’s something nice about this place, the food, the service or perhaps both in tandem, that make your dining experience pleasant.

Three friends and I decided to catch up for dinner that was long overdue. As we were coming from different directions, Adayar seemed to be quite in the center for all of us. Immediately I suggested Crimson Chakra based on my previous pleasant experiences here!
The restaurant is a nice renovated bungalow located on a silent street in Gandhinagar, just a little beyond Gandhinagar club. Tables are decently spaced so you don’t get a feeling of being cramped. Immediately we were seated and after a quick look at the menu, we were ready to order. We had one vegetarian friend, so had to order accordingly.
We started with Mushroom Fry, Nei Kozhi Varuval and Tangy Meen Varuval. Mushroom Fry was tasty with crispy outer. Nei Kozhi Varuval was very tasty and my favorite, small boneless pieces of chicken, just rightly spicy. Friends relished the Tangy Meen Varuval. Its Basa fish, rightly tawa-fried and friends seemed to love it. For the second round of starters, we ordered a Andhra Chilli Paneer, and its non-veg counterpart, Andhra Chilli Chicken and Mutton Kola Urundai. Since I tasted both paneer and chicken, they were quite close in flavors, but tasty. Mutton Kola was good with minced Mutton clearly making an impression on your palate. Starters were all yummy, decided to keep the main course short.
Before my friends could even look at the menu, seized the opportunity and ordered 1 Smoked Chicken Rice and 1 Smoked Veg Rice. I wanted them to taste this at any cost. Everyone unanimously loved it, after the first mouthful. The smoky flavor along with the tasty rice is something to be experienced. Its very unique and the only place that serves it in Chennai as far as I know. Again, though we were full by now, didn’t want to allow my friends to leave without tasting the elaneer souffle. I’ve had it here a few times earlier and love it. We got three since one of my friends was too stuffed to try 🙂 No different from previous times, yummylicious!
Overall a fantastic evening with wonderful food and even better company! Couldn’t have asked for anything better!  Mr. Datson waited on or table and made our dining experience very pleasant.
The bill was around 2.5K, absolutely worth it! I’d gladly recommend this place for yummy food and service.
