It used to be one of our regular places for lunch many years ago when my classmates from College used to stay in this locality. It has been quite sometime since I visited this place. My last experience at their Royapuram outlet was not extraordinary, in spite of that, decided to check out this branch purely out of nostalgia!
A friend and I were in Vadapalani for some work and we were quite delayed with that, we wanted to have something to eat around 5PM. It was basically a confusion between lunch vs evening tiffin. Normally, most of the places close after lunch and open again in the evening. Hoping this place would be open, we stepped into Hotel Pandia’s right next to The Vijaya Forum Mall. Yes, it was open indeed! Surprised to see the renovated interior, nice and well-lit. I remember this place from many years back, dimly lit and I should say, it was awesome after renovation.
We didn’t want to stuff ourselves too much at that time as it would mess with dinner, so decided to eat very light, to our standards of course 😉
Ordered a Chettinad Chicken Soup to be served one by two, one Kuska (I was told it was rice from Mutton Biryani), and one piece of Parotta.
The soup was wonderful, a bit spicy and flavorsome, just how I liked it. I wasn’t too fond of the boiled chicken pieces in the soup. Kuska was very yummy, immediately recollected the old days. Here, the biryani is slightly different from the other places. They are quite unique with this I would say, subtle flavor, a bit more yellowish in color as compared to most of the places. The mutton gravy that they served for the biryani was super yummy. I ate three cups of it 😉
In fact used one of it to eat with a piece of Parotta which was a late addition to our order. Parotta was good too, we were told upfront that it was made a while ago as the master resumes again only in the evening, fair enough! No complaints with that either.
Overall, yummy food and absolutely no complaints! Paid 320 bucks, completely worth it!
