Anise, Taj Coromandel

When I need a beer or two well past midnight, the first name that comes to my mind is Anise in Taj Coromandel in Nungambakkam. I like The Flying Elephant in Park Hyatt too, and it is even closer to home, but they have some limitations with Stags entry on weekends. Didn’t want to take a chance and end up in The Dining Room, headed straight to Taj Coromandel instead.

Needless to say, very nice ambience and I like the food here ! Been here quite a few times and I’ve written about one of my visits here.
Myself and a friend ordered a beer each and a bowl of rice crisps was placed on the table. It disappeared in no time and was refilled. 😉 Since it was a Friday night, they didn’t have a midnight buffet, that’s only on Saturday late nights.
I ordered an Asian Spiced Chicken Burger and my friend ordered a Keema Dosa. As the dishes arrived, couldn’t help but appreciate the presentation and plating. The burger looked lovely. Not round, but it was a square burger 🙂 It was not the cheesy, juicy, dripping types. The patty was moist enough and quite tasty and the bun was very soft. The dip that was given along with the burger was wonderful. Fries were crisp and good. The little portion of salad was good with crunchy veggies. Overall, I loved it. It was a pleasure to eat it with a fork and knife – easy to cut and melt-in-the-mouth types. The Keema dosa was good too and I was curious to taste the chutneys as it was quite late in the night, 😛 Absolutely tasty and I ate 2-3 spoons of it. Sambhar was also good. Friend said the keema was tasty, but I didn’t try.
By the time we left, it was about 2AM and the bill, including the two beers, was a little more than 2K. I would definitely go back here, again!
