Prems Graama Bhojanam, Anna Nagar

The name ‘Prems Graama Bhojanam’ needs no introduction in Chennai’s food scene. Right from the day they started, they have been only getting better and better, passionately serving their customers with ‘health quotient’ as their primary focus! An attempt to serve food that was the staple diet of our earlier generations has been very well received, amidst the growing footprint of ‘fast’ food. When I heard they opened another outlet at Anna Nagar, I couldn’t wait to try !

It is located in the same complex as the Zameendar restaurant and FabHotel Flamingo, on 4th Avenue Shanthi Colony in Anna Nagar. As soon as I entered, I was pleasantly surprised to see the wonderful interiors, classy, modern, yet something traditional about it. Loved the decorations on the wall, and the use of pleasant colors. Already with expectations set so high, I only hoped that the food would be as good as what I’ve had at Adayar.
Meanwhile had a brief chat with Mr. N. S. Krishnamoorthy, owner of Prems Graama Bhojanam, who was overseeing if everything was in place before they’re open full-on to public.
As soon as I was seated, I was served water which tasted like temple theertham because of camphor and Tulasi. I decided to try their Meals Thali. Got a small sample of Paanagam and Mor, both of them tasted good. I liked their melamine-based tableware, customised to suit their theme. The Thali was exactly how I remember it in their Adayar outlet.
Their Thali meals had Sambhar Rice made with Thinai, Rasam Rice made with Kuthirai-vali, Pulav made with Varagu, and Curd Rice made with Saamai. Everything was yummy, except a couple of small misses – Rasam Rice was a bit too tangy and Paneer in Palak Paneer wasn’t soft, because it was fried and then added. Passed on the feedback to Mr. Krishnamoorthy. Cabbage poriyal was yummy! The Thuvayal made with Modakkaththaan was good along with curd rice. A Roti made with mostly Ragi and little wheat was good, was served with Palak Paneer. The dessert was Pineapple Kesari, absolutely yummy! We also got a few pieces of Jowar and Bajra Rotis, they were exceptionally good because they added finely chopped onions and capsicum and it tasted more like paratha than just roti. Also got a small piece of three types of Oothappam, it tasted good, couldn’t relish it as I was too stuffed.
Paid 160 bucks for the Meals Thali, understandably priced higher than their Adayar outlet, defiitely worth it.
To those who love the food at Prems Graama Bhojanam Adayar, and the only reason to not take a guest to this place was their simple ambience, here’s a perfect solution for you ! Head to Prems Graama Bhojanam, Anna Nagar – Tasty food coupled with wonderful ambience, it can’t get any better !
