Mainland China, has always been one of our favorite places to eat Chinese. Normally we visit the restaurant in Phoenix Market City as that’s the closest to us, but this time, since we wanted to try the dinner buffet, decided to go to their restaurant in Cenotaph Road.
The place looked smaller than I remembered it from my previous visits. Only a couple of tables were occupied when we entered, so we could pretty much choose where to sit. Settled down in a nice place and were nibbling on the the customary pickled veggies and their variant of kimchi (I think). The waiter showed up and noted our preferences and we were good to go!
Overall, food was tasty, didn’t have any maajor complaints!
Quickly recollecting what I had – Chicken Manchow soup, Chicken Lollipop, Crispy Fried Vegetables, Crispy potatoes, Chicken Siumai, Veg Dimsums. Family liked fish and prawns too for starters, I skiped them. The soup could have been hot, it was barely warm. When I pointed it out, our waiter apologised and brought back hot soup, it was much better when hot. Siu Mai and Dimsums were the last to be served, made sense! Since it was unlimited, they always run a risk of having to serve too many dimsums to the customer. Though they don’t refuse explicitly, they try to stuff you up with all other starters and finally bring in these. So in a way, there’s some control on consumption. We did ask for it a couple of times and they happily served it. No issues there, just an observation. The sauces for the dimsums were very yummy.
Tried some Chicken Fried rice, Chicken noodles, chicken in Garlic sauce for main course. Overall, pretty tasty food.
Desserts were limited – Caramel Pudding, walnut cake, Darsan, Chocolate cake, liked all of them.
It was my cousin’s birthday, they made the occassion special by making a cake with Darsan and Ice cream. It was yummy, we all loved it!
Paid a little less than 3K for 4 adults and a child. Apparently we were billed for 4 adults. Service was very courteous.
I would gladly go back again! Compared to the a la carte in Phoenix Market City, this dinner buffet is certainly worth the price tag!
