Chennai Restaurant Reviews

Hotel Sriraag

Had to meet a friend very late in the evening at Vadapalani, and by the time we were done, it was about 11 PM. Wanted to have something for dinner, myself and my friend drove on the Arcot road past Hotel Aditya and Hotel Maurya hoping to find a decent place to eat. During college days, we must have eaten in almost all the eateries in Vadapalani as my friends used to stay here. Spotted Hotel Sriraag and I remembered eating there a few times, many years ago. Decided to give it a try.

By the time we reached, it was almost 11:30PM. The place was still buzzing with activity. The AC section of the restaurant had quite a few tables occupied. Though the name sounds a bit more like a vegetarian restaurant, the menu had the choicest non-vegetarian items 🙂 We ordered 3 Parottas, 1 Egg Dosa, Egg Pepper Masala and Chicken Pepper Fry. It was served in less than 10 minutes. The parotta was simply awesome! It was made fresh and not reheated like most places. Flaky and layered, it was very tasty. Chicken Pepper Fry was a little salty, but it was good with the Parotta though. Egg Pepper Masala was tasty and with the parottas, it was even more yummy! Egg Dosai tasted much better than how it looked. There were still people coming in at that time. By the time we finished, it was almost midnight.
The bill set us back by Rs 355 and it was well worth it. Late in the night, this is definitely a nice option for good food in Vadapalani.  Its proximity to the Vadapalani Bus Terminus is an added advantage for those commuting by bus.
