Sandy’s Chocolate Laboratory

Myself and a friend had to meet someone in Khader Nawaz Khan Road in Nungambakkan, and the moment you hear ‘KNK Road’, you know you’re going to eat in one of the nice places in that area. I have visited quite a few restaurants there, but this time, I ticked off one of the nice places which has been on my list for too long. It is not that I haven’t heard about Sandy’s Chocolate Laboratory earlier, but just did not manage to get a seat the last two times I tried.

The place is located in a very happening area and the interiors are neat and trendy, nothing elaborate. The place was clean and welcoming. I was surprised to enter into an empty restaurant around 08:15PM, which was very unlike Sandy’s. In about 30 minutes, about 4-5 tables were taken. There was also a large group of around 10 people and that gave back a familiar feeling of the Sandy’s I knew πŸ™‚
We were there for dinner and we had about an hour at our disposal. Inquired about the soup of the day and we were told it was Zuchini soup. It somehow didn’t sound very appealing, quickly ordered a couple of starters – Chicken Skewers and a Classic Bruschetta, also ordered the main course along with it and asked the waiter to bring it as soon as we’re done with the starters. My friend ordered a Roast Chicken and Cheese Sandwich with Brown bread and I ordered a Chicken Burger called The Fat Bird Burger. When I’m eating, generally most of the orders revolve around chicken πŸ˜‰ That’s it, we were waiting for our food to arrive.
The starters came in about 10-15 minutes and it was quite tempting to see. The classic bruschetta was a crisp bread on the bottom topped with finely cut tomatoes, olives and cheese, it was tasty. I’ve had bruschetta with olive tapenade elsewhere which I remember, was tastier. Nevertheless, it was good. Chicken Skewers was very tasty, but I missed the peanut sauce with it. In fact, any dip would have been better with it, but it was served with finely chopped pineapple, sort of a salad. It was good, but I would have preferred a dip. In less than five minutes, the main course was served and my friend got the sandwich and I got the burger. It was awesome to say the least!!! Loved the flavor, cheese oozing out of the chicken patty, just rightly moist and not dry, and the bun was very soft and good too. I loved it. It was served with fries and coleslaw. Both the main course orders included fries and the waiter thoughtfully asked if he can make one of them spicy, for a little variation. Very thoughtful of him to have suggested that. My friend liked his sandwich and I loved the spicy fries that came with it. I had a small piece of his sandwich just for taste, and I loved that too ! πŸ™‚ I have said earlier in my reviews that I love mustard sauce and the chicken was awesome with this flavor. Managed to eat half of his sandwich. πŸ˜‰
We didn’t have time for the desserts! πŸ™ I know the place is primarily known for its yummy desserts. Anyway, there’s always a next time ! The dinner set us back by Rs 1430 which included a service charge of 10% which was well worth it. Mineral water was priced at Rs 40 which is very nominal I would say.
Overall, a wonderful dinner and I would love to be back to this place. I regret not having visited this place for so long!
