Chennai Restaurant Reviews

Rahman Biryani

That moment when resolutions go for a toss – An ex-colleague called up after a long time and invited me over for Biryani and beer.  Biryani first at some restaurant and beer later at his home.  Been a while since we caught up, so immediately said yes. Rahman Biryani on #9 Govindan Street, West Mambalam was where we decided to have Biryani. The address says West Mambalam, but this is near Srinivasa Theatre, not the typical West Mambalam that is on one side of the Mambalam Station.

As soon as we managed to get a seat, we were served a small portion of Bread Halwa. It was tasty. Egg Biryani was awesome, Basmati Rice, rightly flavored, very less oil and tasty. It was very light on the stomach, unlike a recent experience of having oily Biryani in a popular place in Nungambakkam resulting in feeling heavy and heartburn too. Chicken 65 boneless was very tasty! The Kaali Mirch Kebab was soft, succulent and had a wonderful flavor. Mini Dry fruit falooda was good, and I loved the size, just right when you can still go for a dessert and not have to eat a big glass, full of ice cream. Friend had sweet lassi and said it was good.
Lot of people waiting for their takeaway orders, the place was super busy and the lunch cost us around 520 bucks I think (my friend paid) for all this and it was absolutely worth it !
All the waiters, both girls and boys were from the North-East and were super efficient. No sulking looks, no obligation-kinda service, no chaos.
I would certainly recommend this place for super tasty food !
