Everytime we visit Mayajaal, invariably the next question in our minds would be where to eat! The food court in Mayajaal was never in consideration as it was not even appealing! However, this time, the food court was much better looks-wise! However, we had made up our mind to visit Bhangra, a Punjabi restaurant in Mayajaal.
Its location is a bit tricky and not so prominent, one could easily miss it. It would be nice if they had prominent boards letting people know about the place. The ambience was nice and classy. Since we stepped in after a matinee show, we were quite early for dinner. However, that wasn’t a problem as they are open from 12PM to 12AM and do not close between lunch and dinner! That was very convenient indeed!
Quick glance at the menu, we ordered Chicken Malai Tikka, Chicken Kathi Roll, Chole Bhature, a Sweet Lassi and a Sugarcane Juice. As soon as we settled down, we got the customary cut-onions sprinkled with chaat masala and roasted Paapad on the table. We tried the Kulcha chutney on the table along with the papad, it was yummy!
Chicken Malai Tikka was wonderful, soft and succulent, we loved it. Chicken Kathi Roll was superb too, and we got a small portion of Dal Makhni to taste with that. It was yumm! Chole Bhature was also tasty, perhaps slightly sour because of amchur, I’m not too sure. The flavor was awesome though, we loved the masala. Sweet Lassi with a dash of rooh afza was awesome. Sugarcane juice had subtle flavor of mint, ginger and black salt. It was wonderful! Overall, all that we ordered was superb !
While we were dining, we had a pleasant conversation with Mr. Navtej who is the owner of the restaurant. I knew him through common food groups and he had already invited me over. It was nice to meet him in person and chat up while we were having food. We were served a portion of kheer which was a fitting end to an awesome meal! Loved it too.
Finally waited sometime for the check, and then Mr. Navtej refused to take payment for the meal in spite of all the pleading! So finally it ended on the house, not how I’d wanted it, but clearly didn’t have a choice! Thanked him for a wonderful meal and proceeded home!
