This review is for the restaurant in Phoenix Market City. Visited Mainland China for Dinner on Diwali with family and friends. We were six of us, four adults and two children. We have been to this place a few times and have always loved the food here. As always, this time was no different, but for a few small disappointments.
We ordered for the Siu Mai, both chicken and Veg and it was served without the usual accompaniment of sauces – mustard, and the other black colored one. Really missed that and these dimsums were incomplete without those sauces. Couldn’t enjoy it as much as we always did. When we asked for it, we were told that the restaurant opened just today after being closed for about 20 days for some maintenance. Hope this will not be the case in the future.
Rest of the food was yummy, not a slightest complaint here.
While we were eating, as it was nearing closing time, they switched off the AC and it turned out to be suffocating. On request, it was turned on again. This was not in good taste. They could have waited a little as we were almost done. There were a few others who were still having their meal.
When we wanted to order some desserts, they had only icecream and something else which I cannot remember. So not all the items in the menu were available because of the same reason.
Overall, these could be just some minor coordination issues which will probably be fine as they settle down into a routine. Food was awesome and this place remains one of the very nice restaurants in Velachery.

Mainland China has been one of our favorite restaurants in Chennai and our opinion hasn’t changed a bit after this visit. Truly a wonderful experience.
I went there with family thinking there was a dinner buffet on Saturdays, but there wasn’t. So had to go with À la carte. Wonderful starters and main course. We were too full for desserts.
Wonderful and polite service. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

This review is for our most recent visit to their restaurant in Cenatoph Road.
We were there with family and relatives, totally a group of eleven for the Lunch buffet on Christmas.
Reserved the table in advance. They called on that morning to confirm our reservation. The table was ready when we arrived at 13:00Hrs. Comfortable seating for all of us. A kid’s chair was provided on request.
Starters, main-course, desserts were all fine as usual. Very tasty food.
Overall a wonderful lunch with family.
Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Chennai and would recommend it anytime!

We have visited this place with family about three or four times, all during weekends for lunch, except for the last time when we went on a weekday for dinner. Only then, we knew that buffet was not available for dinner, so had to go for À la carte and that was slightly expensive, considering we wanted to eat all the starters that were served to us during our previous visit for lunch buffet 🙂
The variety of food is awesome with a distinct flavor. Nice starters in the spread, and in addition, dimsum (both veg and chicken) is served on the table and thats what I loved most. For those who havent tasted it, it is a must-try with the sauces that are served with it.
The service is very good and there is ample time for you to relax and enjoy your meal. Nice ambience and it looks quite posh. Good for taking friends or family out for a special occassion.
I have heard from friends that the restaurant in Nungambakkan is even better, havent tried it though. Have visited their restaurant in Bangalore, that is very good !
Overall, their buffet is a winner – a must-try !
