If you haven’t heard about a place in any of the food groups on social media, or if Instagrammers are not raving about a place, or if Youtubers are not going gaga about a place, that doesn’t mean that the place isn’t doing great!
I thanked my stars for making a reservation well in advance, for a dinner with my sister’s family. We walked in around 7:30PM on Saturday evening into a completely packed house. I was pleasantly surprised on seeing this place buzzing with activity. Located quite close to the Bessy beach, it is actually a posh independent house renovated into a restaurant. We were allotted a place in the first floor, a separate enclosure, which ensured more privacy.
Soups and starters first !
After a quick check, we ordered crema di funghi to be served two by four, zuppa di pomodoro and zuppa di broccoli to be served one by two each. Soups were served in cute looking bowls, tasted wonderful.
Our starters were a mix of Mexican and Italian.
Nachos with Cheese Sauce, tasted good with the tomato salsa served as an accompaniment.
Onion Rings could have been better. Recently the ones I had in Popeye’s would beat this hands down. This was very basic.
Cheese Corn Balls, another starter which was okay-ish. Nothing wrong with it, but did not do anything to tickle your tastebuds. Kids liked it, quite obviously.
Garlic Bread, cheesy and tasty with a nice aroma of garlic. We liked this.
Caesar Salad, nice crunchy lettuce topped with cheese. I had very little of it. Liked it too.
Kids were quite excited about choosing their Mocktails!
Pink City, Blue Heaven, Fire n Ice, and Orange and Basil Mojito were the four choices of mocktails we ordered.
With that, we decided to move to main course. A couple of pizzas and pastas was what we had in mind.
Aglio Olio e Pepperoncino was fantastic. Daughter chose spaghetti and the aroma and flavor of garlic and olive oil was just brilliant. Spaghetti was al dente, and just rite! Loved it totally.
Alla Arrabbiata was very good too. I am not a big fan of tomato base for pasta, I prefer white sauce pasta or pesto pasta instead. This was kids’ choice and we went ahead with this. It was very tasty too.
Pizza Napoli was good. Slightly spicy, but that’s how we expected it to be with the onions, capsicum, sun-dried tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, chilli oil and mozzarella.
The next pizza was Chef’s special and it had loads of veggies. Veg extravaganza would be apt to call it. Liked that too.
That’s when we decided to deep dive into desserts!
Since we were eight of us, decided to order four desserts and share amongst us. We ordered Panna Cotta, Tiramisu Italiano, Chocolate Bomb and Blueberry Cheesecake.
My favorite among the desserts was the Blueberry Cheese cake and Tiramisu.
Overall, a fantastic family time! We spent a good two hours there and the service was courteous and pleasant all through! Mr. Bikram waited on our table and he was polite and it definitely enhanced our dining experience!
We paid a little less than 10K in all, yes, the place is pricey, and since I have been here a few times, knew what to expect. The bill included a service charge close to 500 bucks, and we were okay with that for the wonderful service rendered.
One of the places I’d recommend if you are looking for an upscale ‘vegetarian’ dining option in Chennai.
Nine years ago, I have visited the Chennai and Bangalore outlet and loved both the visits. You can read about my experience from the below links –
