Can’t remember how many times I have visited Petuk! I just love it! Every time I have returned satisfied after having tasty food. That says a lot about their consistency, and having their basics very right. I love trying different cuisines, and this is one of the very few places in Chennai that serves absolutely lip-smacking Bengali food.
This time I was in for a surprise! The place has been renovated and is now an AC restaurant with bright colored walls and fancy light fixtures. It feels a bit compact as compared to their earlier setup, but more convenient with AC dining!
Saturdays and Sundays, they have Chicken Biryani on the menu, a friend and I decided to try.
Our order – 2 Chicken Biryani, 1 Egg Devil, 1 Malai Prawn Curry, 1 Chicken Kasha, Half Portion extra rice, 1 Lemon Sprite and Payesh!
Chicken Biryani was tasty with a nice flavor of saffron. Again, those who like typical Chennai Biryani and cannot look beyond that, please excuse. It may not be very appealing to your palate. The chicken was soft and well-cooked, falling off the bone. Since I am not a big fan of chicken in Biryani, had to leave some of it. Egg Devil was yummy! Chicken Kasha and Rice was super tasty, this is one of my favorites here. Friend liked the Malai Prawn Curry.
Friend had a Lemon Sprite and I finished with Payesh, a bit too sweet, but yummy. I decided to do a takeaway of Pomfret Jhal (Fish curry).
Paid a little less than 1000 bucks, a wonderful lunch. Can’t wait to come back!
