Myself and three other friends managed a quick weekend getaway to Mahabalipuram and we spotted a nice restaurant in the heart of the town, managed by a family from Nepal! We were there for breakfast on a Sunday morning after quite a heavy drinking session on a Saturday night. 🙂 Needless to say, we were quite tired and hungry and did not want to venture very far for breakfast.
The place is named as Namaste Restaurant and German Bakery. They have a few varieties of bread, buns, rolls and cookies. The place was neat and clean and basic. Pleasant instrumental music in the background was soothing. Nice images of Nepal on the walls and it was really nice. One of my friends just tried a Lemon Cinnamon Roll and it was okayish. We weren’t very particular about trying stuff from Bakery though. The owner was a pleasant gentleman and he took the orders. A couple of Orange juices, Black Coffee, Milk Tea, French Onion Soup, a set breakfast with hashbrown potatoes, eggs to order and toast with butter and jam, cheese masala omelette with toast, Fried egg with toast were some of the items we ordered. All the dishes were tasty. Wanted to try the momos, but we were quite stuffed with a heavy breakfast and hence skipped it.
I would certainly visit this place for good food and recommend it to others. There were just three of them managing the place, so when the place is crowded, you might expect a delay in getting served. Otherwise it is just perfect ! Loved the attitude of the owner, serve with a smile which is very rare to see in Chennai these days !
