I have been to their Karapakkam outlet a couple of times, and once had food delivered to a friend’s place from their Navalur outlet. Since the time they opened in Thuraipakkam, I have been thinking of visiting them, but guess what? The recently-opened branch at Velachery is the closest it can get for me. Decided to try a casual lunch with wifey here!
The place was neat and clean, liked the ambience. Settled down in a four-seater as it was relatively free around 2:15 PM. Ordered a Hyderabadi Chicken 65, a Special Rasavid Chicken Biryani Supreme pack. That consisted of Biryani for 2, Salad, Sweet and accompaniments, sounded good for the two of us.
Chicken 65 was the typical Hyderabadi style, first deep-fried and then shallow-fried in spicy sauce, very different from what we get in Chennai. It was good, with tasty flavorsome masala. Special Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani Supreme Pack came with loads of boneless chicken Masala topped on it. It was also tasty, though we felt it was a slight overdose of chicken. The good thing was Chicken 65 and this chicken that came with Biryani tasted different, though they looked quite similar. The quantity was good for 2 good eaters. I would have liked the biryani a tad spicier, but then, with the chicken it was ok.
As I have said earlier, I love trying different biryanis and relishing them. Those who dislike other biryanis and feel very possessive about the biryani in Chennai, please excuse, this is certainly not for you. Between Paradise and Rasavid, I have felt the latter is a shade better, though I like the former too 🙂
Veggies in salad were fresh and crunchy, accompaniments were good, but Gulab Jamun was a little raw in the center, nothing worth raving about, okayish. Paid a little less than 800 bucks for a decent meal.
Overall it was a pleasant experience, and I would certainly go back. They have a nice Tea shop just outside and looked like it was worth checking out sometime.
