Andhikkadai in Velachery – I have done a solo visit earlier, decided to take a couple of friends here this time!
This is a small restaurant located in a street, off Velachery Main Road, just past Lata Super Market, next to Velachery Talk office. The place is small, but clean and welcoming ! We have to pay in advance and it is a self-service place.
Saw the glasses of Paanagam, Nannari Sarbath, Ragi Koozh in plastic glasses, covered with heat-pressed aluminium foil. So it was rip-and-drink types, all priced for 20 bucks each. I took one of everything just to taste. Ragi Koozh was very good with chopped raw onions in it, one mor-molaga in a neatly sealed cute cover ๐ Nannari Sarbath and Paanagam were available chilled, and tasted wonderful. Damn, saw the rosemilk in the fridge a little late ๐ that’s for next time ๐
Millet Combo had Saamai Pongal, Ragi Poori, Chola Dosai, and Chutneys and Sambhar and potato masala for the poori. Sukku Malli Coffee was included in the combo. It was very good, absolutely no complaints. I have had the same one earlier and liked it then too. It is priced at 75 bucks. One of my friends decided to have a couple of Medhu vadais with chutney and sambhar, and it looked like he liked it. Sukku Malli Coffee was good, a bit too sweet, but okay.
Overall, a nice little place in Velachery. They have some interesting stuff in the evenings – Sweet kozhukattai, Pidi kozhukattai, Adai-Avial, Vaazhapoo vadai, Paniyaram and the likes. The Lunch Thali seemed pretty basic looking at the menu and wasn’t very appealing, but the stuff they dish out in the mornings and evenings are worth a try.
