Clean and good accommodation in Thiruvannamalai!
The room was a twin-bed room made as a double-bed room by putting the cots together, but separate mattresses. We were 3 friends, and so it didn’t matter. The third one adjusted with the Sofa-cum-bed and it was fine. The adjoining room had a TV and table and chair, and a kitchen slab, but didn’t see any facilities to cook though. The furnishing was pretty good, and the ambience, decent. The room was clean and the beds well-made. The Bathroom was clean, but not even close to a 3-Star property. It was more like a clean bathroom at someone’s house, not a hotel bathroom. Toiletries were very basic, just a soap and a shampoo. Towels were neatly washed and clean.
Mr. Vignesh at the reception was very helpful. He arranged an auto for us to the Temple at a very short notice, and he was basically a pleasant person, willing to help.
Breakfast was included in the price. The restaurant Vaibhavam is a small restaurant with about 6 four-seater tables. So that is all the capacity of the restaurant. So if all guests turn up for breakfast at the same time, be prepared to wait for a while. The breakfast spread was very limited, but was ok.
Small things, but worth appreciating -the flower decoration in the hotel lobby, the well-decorated Ganesha and the money plants in front of each room are pleasing to the eye.
IMPORTANT: However, be informed that this hotel is away from the Main Rajagopuram of the temple where Girivalam starts, at least 4-5 KM. On a full-moon day(pournami), shuttling back and forth to the temple can be tiring and very expensive. Since the whole path is full of devotees, autos are not allowed. It can be difficult to find an auto going towards the hotel and they charge exorbitant rates. We paid about Rs.500 twice, for a trip that would cost less than Rs.100 on a normal day. Well, you really don’t have a choice!
