Chennai Restaurant Reviews

Anise – Taj Coromandel

Haven’t been here too many times and invariably visit this place when we run out of options in the city for a drink, after midnight. Same was the case this time and myself and a friend stepped in for a couple of beers. Decided to stick on to the usual place Anise. Started with a couple of beers. After an hour or so, began to feel hungry and we wanted to eat something.

It was about 1AM and the buffet spread was set, and we were seated close to the desserts counter. It was damn tempting to say the least. The only dilemma was if we should just order a dish each, or should we go for the buffet. Wanted to check the price and surprisingly it was much less than what I expected – INR 636 nett. Immediately decided to go for it, already desserts in the back of my mind 😉
We skipped the soup. My friend started with Lamb Biryani and said it was wonderful. No chicken variant of the Biryani was available. So I decided to go with Indian bread (Roti, Naan, Parotta) and some gravies. Tried Dum ka Chicken, Bhindi Do Pyaza and Paneer Kali Mirch. All the three were wonderful. Not a big fan of Bhindi, but it was awesome. Parotta was served hot on the table. Proceeded straight to the dessert counter and picked almost one of each 😛 It was yummylicious! It was a limited spread, but pretty good and absolutely worth the price.
Overall a few beers, a Baileys Irish Cream, and the Midnight Buffet set us back by about 3.5K and it was definitely worth the pleasant experience.
